Coaches Corner #12 * May 3, 2015

Thanks to all the athletes that were able to make it to the Bascom Center for another fabulous day of power soccer play. With five athletes in attendance folks were asked to play more and in different positions and I was very proud of everyone's focus and willingness to try some new things! The team had an 0-1 loss against the BORP Shockers despite Jessica's best efforts in goal. Quite an accomplishment considering that the Shocker athletes have been playing power soccer for a few years more than our athletes and had a couple of Strike Force chairs in the rotation. Matt had a shut down half with multiple saves in his debut appearance in the keeper position.

The Flames had a 3-3 tie against the BORP Bombers in a fast paced fun match up against Coach Stephen's team. Matt, Tyler and Josh all notched goals in that game to keep it even, with Hunter assisting on two of those goals.

We have a few practices before we play again-our next tournament will be in Berkeley on May 30. I will send out the game schedule when it is finalized. Practice on Sunday May 10 will be at "1 ish" - everyone is invited to my house at noon for a Mother's Day brunch before practice - celebrating all the great moms who have made this team possible - food and beverages will be provided. We practice again on May 24. We will be practising June 7 and 21 before taking a short summer recess. The 21st will include a team celebration, a tribute to our awesome Dads and athlete awards. Athletes will be provided with their annual evaluation. I am hoping that members of the Kryptonite Pride can join us either May 24 or June 7 so that we can get some tips from these highly skilled and experienced athletes and do some scrimmaging to help them get ready for their national competition.

THANK YOU ALL and FLAME ON!
