Coaches Corner #9
What a fabulous day of power soccer in San Jose!
The Bombers went down in Flames (I have been waiting to use that line) 5-1 with their only score being a PK by Coach Stephen! The Flames' offense did not get ignited until Tyler came in to start the second half and put the Flames on the board within a minute of entering the game. Zach had some truly shut down defense in goal. Matt and Josh combined to play great defense and offense sharing the center position for that first game, while Jessica got to start against her old teammates. A good game was had by all!
In the second game, the Flames did not score against the Kryptonite Pride but had some great chances. The highlight of that match was Jessica going toe to toe (guard to guard actually) with Korbett in a collision that rocked both athletes back and resulted in a drop ball restart. Talk about trying to be "first to"!
The orange express rolled into the final match of the game against the San Jose Rockets. The game was an epic battle between two evenly matched up teams - the Rockets won by scoring a goal in the last minute of the match. Again, Zach was brilliant in goal for the Flames.
Practice is Sunday March 15 at 1 pm at Harper Jr. High. Then it’s off to Fresno for three games. We will have a rematch against the Rockets and will play the Santa Barbara Rollin Rebels and the Fresno Ghostriders - it will be great to try our skills against some new teams! Looking forward to seeing all of you at the next practice - FLAME ON!
