Coaches Corner #6

Let me just start by saying that I LOVE POWER SOCCER! I had a great summer and learned a lot about power soccer skills and drills by attending an afternoon of Power Soccer Camp in Berkeley with Coach Stephen and a week of Power Soccer Camp in Minnesota. I am pumped for the coming season and hope that you all share my enthusiasm!

We had a great first practice – I was glad to be back and it was wonderful to see everyone. I am looking forward to our first season as a non-conference team. As a non-conference team we still compete with all of the conference and non-conference teams in the area, we are obligated to compete in a minimum of 6 games but we do not have to travel in the summer to compete in a Conference Cup. So get ready to Flame On – we are doing this!

Due to circumstances beyond our control (gym closure for repairs, lack of an insurance certificate due to USPSA backlog) we are off to an inconsistent start to our season. Due to the delays our first tournament will now be at BORP in Berkeley on either November 15 or 16th. – so please let me know ASAP if you do not plan to attend. Either text me at 530-902-5331 or send me an e-mail at margonpaul@sbcglobal.net.

Once we put our name in the hat for the tournament we will be given a game schedule and will need to be able to field a team for all games that we are scheduled for. It is possible that our first game will be at 9 am and our last game will be at 5 pm so plan accordingly and let me know if you have any time constraints –

I NEED TO KNOW WHO WILL ATTEND AND FOR HOW LONG SO I CAN FIGURE OUT PLAY TIME FOR EACH MATCH.

Our practices will be 1:30-4:30 pm on Sundays September 28 and October 12, 26 and November 9. Again, please text or e-mail if you cannot make any of the practices – it helps me plan out the practices better.

A BIG THANK YOU to Janet for the great job on the jerseys, to Dennis and George for their work on equipment, to Hal for his pictures, website management and helping out with the fiscal stuff and of course much thanks to Lara for all of her work as the Team Manager and Stephen for help coaching the team! Yolanda has agreed to help out with recruitment and we may set October 19 as a Clinic day as well as an extra practice – depending on how quickly we can get our respective butts in gear!

Thank you and GO SAC VALLEY FLAMES!
