The Sac Valley Flames had a fabulous scrimmage against the Santa Rosa Junior College Rolling Bears last Sunday at Analy gym in Sebastopol.

The Flames played the Bears to a 5-3 victory with Josh Blount scoring 4 of the Flames goals and Tyler Czapkay scoring one goal and providing one assist. Jessica Roeckl-Navazio had some great breakaways and provided some key stops as keeper.

It was the first time that the Rolling Bears were able to play a match against another team and a good time was had by all. Two of the Bears players were using manual chairs – something that I had not seen before. After the head to head competition we had combined teams play against each other and Josh added another 5 goals to the scoreboard. Rolling Bears’ Coach Kinmont and his team were pleased to host the competition and look forward to a future encounter when all players from both teams can participate.

Our season will be starting up again on Sunday August 17, 2014 with practice from 1:30-4:30pm at the Harper Junior High School gym. We will continue our usual practice schedule of every other Sunday 1:30-4:30pm at Harper. This year we will be registering to play as a non-conference team. Once the fall tournament schedule is out we will review and refine our practice, tournament and scrimmage schedule to get in as much power soccer as possible and still have time for all of the other activities in our lives : ).

I will be attending the BORP Power Soccer Camp on Tuesday July 22 with Coach Stephen and attending the Camp Courage Power Soccer Camp in Minnesota with Jessica to add to learn some more drills and enhance my coaching skills. Enjoy the rest of the summer, practice when you can and be ready to rock (and roll) on August 17!
